Polishing is the process of altering the shine of your travertine or natural stone. We are able to bring your travertine or other natural stone (marble, limestone, etc.) from dull to your desired level of shine with the use of diamond polishing pads and polishing machines. We do not perform chemical polishing as it can be harmful to your stone, it does not last nearly as long and it does not have the same level of shine or vibrance that true polishing offers.
We Offer 3 Levels of Shine
Matte Finish | Satin Finish | Mirror Finish
Honing and polishing travertine is performed similarly with two slightly different outcomes. Honing is the process of removing material with the goal of evening out the surface so there aren’t any scratches left or differences in shine. After honing the travertine is left with a matte finish that has become very desirable!
Polishing is performed with a diamond polishing pad instead of a honing pad. It is the process of increasing grit in order to make the stone shine to your desired level. Polishing is done only after honing is completed.
Having your travertine polished is completely up to you. It is not a necessary maintenance service like tile and grout cleaning or grout sealing. If you desire for your travertine to be more shiny or vibrant in color then polishing is right for you!
Another reason to have your travertine polished would be to remove deep scratches or etching blemishes from hard chemicals. The honing process will completely remove all scratches or blemishes and restore your travertine to look like new again!
When polishing travertine, we use a true, diamond encrusted polishing pad that produces the most durable form of polish. Rather than doing a chemical polish that will only last 1-2 years, our polishings will last 5-10 years depending on routine maintenance and foot traffic.
We always recommend matching the color of the grout to the color of the existing tile. This gives your floor an amazing, seamless look and helps make the grout lines more visible. At the end of the day, we are willing to use whatever color of your choice.
If you are interested in keeping your existing color, we can easily match the color!
The time it takes to complete the process is completely dependent on the amount of square footage, the size of the tile, and the pattern of the tile.
For example, a 1000 square-foot home, with a 18″x18″ tile and normal pattern would take two technicians 4-6 hours to complete.

AZ Tile Grout is not responsible for cracked grout or missing grout due to improper installation. Cleaning with high pressure can remove grout, color sealers and damage some satin-finished natural stones in rare instances. We do our absolute best to prevent this from ever happening.
