Tile and Grout Cleaning

PHOENIX'S #1 TILE & GROUT CLEANING SERVICE

How Do We Perform Tile and Grout Cleaning?

Tile and grout cleaning varies from floor to floor. Both procedure and technique are completely dependent on several variables. The type of material the tile is made of is the most significant factor when deciding how to perform the cleaning. Is it a man-made tile such as porcelain or ceramic? Is the tile a natural stone like a travertine or marble? Does the situation require an alkaline solution or an acidic solution? How dirty is the floor and what’s the desired outcome? These are just a few of the many questions we ask ourselves when determining how to perform a tile and grout cleaning. We determine what chemical to use, what level of scrubbing and agitation is required to both clean and protect the floor, and what machine, tools, or equipment will be used.

When Should You Call a Pro to Clean Your Tile and Grout?

Is your grout and tile discolored or stained? Do you keep cleaning it but it seems like nothing is working and it may even be getting worse? It might be time to seek professional intervention. Traditional mopping and most modern tile cleaning alternatives serve only to maintain floors in between professional cleanings. The reason being is that most floor cleaning methods only move dirt from one area to another, most of the time from off of the tile onto the grout. Over time this dirt build-up causes permanent staining, but it can be prevented. We recommend having your floor professionally cleaned and sealed every year to two years depending on the foot traffic your floor sees.

Is Cleaning Natural Stone Different from Man-Made Tile?

The process of cleaning natural stone is very different from the process of cleaning man-made tiles. When it comes to natural stone, we must be mindful of the chemicals we use. For example, we never use acid on natural stone. When acid comes in contact with any natural stone there’s a chemical reaction that causes what we call “etching.” This will create a blurry blemish and if left on the stone will begin to eat away at the stone. We rely on neutral, pH-balanced cleaning detergents for 70% of our natural stone cleanings. For the other 30%, we will work with low-alkaline solutions. Only when the situation allows it. Some types of stones we see in homes include travertine, marblegranite, slate, limestone, Cantera, and quartzite
