Grout Sealing

PHOENIX'S #1 GROUT SEALING SERVICE

What is Grout Sealing and Is It Necessary?

Grout sealing involves applying a grout sealant directly to the grout surface to protect it from permanent staining or discoloration. Like concrete, grout is porous. Sealing grout closes these pores, creating a barrier against dirty mop water, foot traffic, dirt, and other common staining agents.

While not 100% necessary, we highly recommend sealing your grout. It helps prevent permanent staining and prolongs the life of your grout. We encourage customers who’ve had our tile and grout cleaning service done to protect their tile cleaning with grout sealing! We provide a grout sealing service for the valley including, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Peoria, and other cities in Arizona.

Should You Call a Pro to Seal Your Grout?

While grout sealing may seem like a simple DIY project, knowing exactly what you’re doing is important. Using the wrong product or tools could cause more harm than good if done incorrectly. For instance, many homeowners try to seal both their grout and porcelain or ceramic tile. When a grout-specific sealer is applied to a non-porous tile, it can act as a magnet and attract dirt, grime, and oils.

Unless your grout has just been recently installed, you must do a thorough grout cleaning to prep the surface to accept the sealant. If you seal over dirt and grime, you will be trapping it further into your grout. Skip the hassle and reach out today!

Grout Sealing vs Grout Coloring. Which One's Right For You?

Grout coloring falls under the “grout sealant” category. While our standard grout sealant is a clear, solvent-based sealant, our epoxy-based grout colorant is more durable, lasting 8 to 12 years when properly applied. We recommend resealing your grout with our regular sealant every 2 to 5 years, depending on foot traffic and cleaning habits. Grout coloring is ideal for permanently discolored grout but can be used in any situation. A professional can recommend the best service for your needs.

Grout Sealing Maintenance

Maintaining grout that has been sealed is a straightforward task. There are important measures to take to ensure your grout sealing lasts its typical life span of between 2 to 5 years. If followed correctly, your grout sealer will easily last its intended life span.

DO:

  • Use a neutral-pH cleaning solution
  • Use room temperature or cold water
  • Use non-abrasive mops or scrubbers (string mop is highly recommended)
  • Clean no more than 1-2 times per month or only when necessary

DON’T:

  • Use acidic or high-alkaline cleaning solutions
  • Use warm water, hot water or steam
  • Use abrasive or wired brushes
  • Scrub aggressively or for a prolonged period.
